I doubt that lines on the screen could be related to a failed hard drive. On loggin in, I can hear normal disk activity and again, lines appear which vaguely resemble the graphic patterns to be expected, like predominanly blue lines interspersed with the white of the start menu when the windows start key is pressed. If video on the external screen is fine and this defect appears only on the internal LCD, most likely you have a bad screen. I have read most of the page and did not see a similar problem mentioned. I have had my Dell Inspirion laptop since March , not even two years. It could be a major issue with the LCD screen or with the video card. It has gotten progressively worse over time.

They start as a single green line in the center that gets brighter, then they multiply, eventually consuming the whole screen, and kind of fade in and out but are constantly there. Yep, I misdiagnosed this laptop. If the background is a light color it almost disappears.

Hi, I have a question in need of a answer. There were a lot of vertical lines, and they were changing color without any pattern. Call Toshiba and order a shipping box or take your laptop to a local authorized repair center and they should fix it at no charge.

Boot up computer and check. It would be nice to hook up a test screen and see if it also goes white. Can anybody help me with this? I drop some water over my laptop keyboard, it was working fine but after 5 minutes the buttom part of the screen started to flicker, then it show a faded image, it came back and work fine.

Fixing bad video on LCD screen

I bua with multimedia projector, the line is not in the project display. When I start it, display becomes first greenish and after that picture is harsh and blurred but colors are OK. Finally, bad LCD screen. I changed the inverter and cable and no difference. After I replaced it, everything was OK…. He says he is pretty sure it is magnetic damage to the LCD; the computer itself appears to be working fine.
